That i finally went to the auto store and bought me some back up lights and installed them in my car. Finally.

Okay let's tell stupid stories about how stupid I am.

Seth asked me via e-mail what's up with Mt. St. Helens. I don't know, because they change it every day, those crazy volcanologists. One day there's going to be a big eruption, the next day nothing is happening. One day they say not to expect anymore, the next day there are two steam eruptions. Make up your minds!

Anyhow- I'm really excited, and I want it to blow... but last Sunday was probably the height of my excitement. Like any other Sunday I got up before everyone in my house and proceeded to get ready. No listening to the radio or tv on, because I try to be quiet. I make it out to my car, and this last Sunday I had to drive to my parents' to pick up my mom for church.

I get to the car and listen to music instead of the radio, which is completely normal for me. I'm driving down the street and it seems really foggy, but I think nothing of it. I start heading north on the freeway and once I'm heading closer to Washington it seems as those this "fog" is in plumes, that it's moving, and covering everything. I start to think "could Mt. St. Helens have blown this morning?"

I start getting really excited, and I mean really excited. I can't see anything- the sun is mostly covered, and once heading east I can't see past the other four lanes across the freeway- this smoke is so thick. I'm convinced Mt. St. Helens has blown and that I need to remember where i was, what i was doing, and what I was listening to (Weezer's green album). I start to think that this could be a pretty cool day!! I even call my roommate (thus waking her up) and tell her "mt. st. Helens blew!"

I get off the freeway, get to my house where my mom is waiting and say "mt. st. helens blew!" and she says "what? noo.." and i say "come look!" and she says "Meghan... let's turn on the radio".

So we do. And they are talking about measures, the election, the war in Iraq- anything BUT mt. st. helens.

so defeated.

There are just some bands that are so good for me. Bands that have been a part of my life for so long, that every time I see them I get renewed a little bit. Like a piece of me, a piece of my life has been reminded about its being.

I am a lucky girl. In less than a week I will see two of those bands. Bands whose music has been such a huge part of my life. Music that helps me see the world a little clearer, that somehow heals me in a strange way.

Tonight it was The Carolines, a band I first heard when I was sixteen, and have been to more shows of theirs than I can count (maybe 20?)
Tuesday night it will be the 14th (i think) time I've seen Switchfoot- a band that i first got introduced to at age 14, in 1997. Stephanie and I will be working at the merch table, which I'm excited about.

I'm a very lucky girl these days. When concerts like this make me the most happiest, you know I need a little something to help me out.

"And what's the deal with all these things
We drive around this town like we were kings (and queens)
Nothing's right and nothing's wrong
And I have yet to hear a saving song"

The librarian at our library was surprised and shocked that i knew my whole library barcode for the country library. C'mon lady! you're a librarian- why is that a surprising thing? I've had the barcode for 15 years, you'd think i'd have it memorized by now. Besides- in the last five years I have requested so many books online.. i need that memorized.

Hum410 is not going so well. I'm a big slacker and cannot get myself motivated to do anything. Even the fact that I have a meeting with my reader this afternoon does not motivate me much. Ah well. I'll be doing a lot of homework this weekend.

Recent happenings in our house:
--Stephanie broke a window Saturday afternoon in the boys' dorms.. from outside... from throwing a football. Hahaha.
--I tried to invite the Sandy house boys to go camping on Mt. St. Helens with us, as a house-to-house activity. They weren't too hot on that idea, and frankly neither were my roommates! i couldn't believe it.
--My roommates are getting the brunt of me being really bored sometimes. Stephanie says "don't you have homework?" and i say "yeah... but i don't want to do it".. and then i play free cell. I seem to be keeping busy, but my internet time recently has hugely plummeted, and I'm left to find other things to do.
--Stephanie and I are going to start going swimming a few mornings a week at a nearby parks and recreation. We're excited for that... I'm a little nervous as I am NOT a good swimmer and Stephanie will surely show me up. However... I am excited to buy goggles! i've never even owned a pair of goggles.

My arm muscles hurt today while practicing the bass (it felt kinda good), and the third position made me frustrated.

the end.

"I think I sweat a lot.... because I ran two miles in the jogathon!"-Sawyer, age 7

The lady I babysat for last night.. she said she liked my name, that it was a nice name-- first and last names. and that made me happy. I hadn't heard that in a while.

If we could write down things that the girls in my house are about, these are some things:
!ZOMBIES!! ARRGGHH
@The spanish Channel! Muy Bien!
#Gardens and compost, recycling and conservation
$queen of the porch
^creepy closet we all got in and hung out of (so hard to explain)
&cookies
*matt nash
(Napoleon Dynamite
)Garden State

There is more that I can't think of. Lots of times we yell and scream at each other in fun ways. Sometimes someone says "i need a hug" and we will do that for each other. Sometimes you just need people around, and these are good people to have around.
