Lately these two songs have been almost like wake up calls, and i've been thinking about them a lot. This first song is the song that caught be by surprise on the Denison Marrs cd... second to last track. Finally listened to the words one day. Yeesh.

"I wish I could've talked with You
If i had the chance I would've walked with You
I could've watched You live
And watched You changing lives
With how You'd always give
No matter what the price

I wish I could've been with You
When all those hypocrites
Would run and come at You
I could've heard You say
The simple brilliant words
That'd make them turn away
And think their hate to be absurd

How did You always stand Your ground
So well when they came at You
How did You always seem to know
Just what to say and what to do

I wish I could've followed You
And felt the peace You give
To those who acknowledged You
I would've watched You close
Remembering all You'd do
Practicing what You preached
Trying to follow through

I wish I could've known Your face
And joined right by Your side
Loving the human race
No matter what the cost
Your strength always in place
No matter how'd they hate
You'd always show them grace

How did You always turn it around
When they tried to play You like a fool
How did You always know when to run
When to love
When to rage
And when to keep Your cool

When they came running with their fingers pointing
Away from their own hands
You turned them around without making a sound
What was it that You wrote in the sand
When they came blaming with their fists raising
And their voices loud with betrayal and hate
You took the fall
To make a way for us all
How sweet the sound of
Your amazing grace"
-Denison Marrs "Keeping It Cool"

This Lewis song .. this semester in chapel we're talking about brokeness.. and that's what this is about, i think. At least it's my take on it

"What tie will bind us all
Out of the cave
Into the light?
Like a punch that
Steals your breath
comes suffering

When every dream is taken
When every word is stale
When every bone is broken

Roads crumble under feet
fractured lives among the dead
Like dionysus torn to bits
you're born again

When every dream is taken
When every word is stale
When every bone is broken

... is that all, is that all You want from me?
"

I'm so glad to be back in the dorms. Yesterday was Jaime's birthday, so we went out to dinner, and then we had a dance party in my room. My roomate has a disco light sorta thing, so we turned out the lights (was dark outside), turned on my blue christmas lights, turned on the disco light and a freakin' party. Other girls from our hall joined in, and it was so much fun. For a half an hour we just let loose. Moby provides some great dance music, as does Queen. The best part was that Courtney told us, that her boyfriend told HER that if you don't know how to dance, you just write your name with your butt. So we did that. and laughed so hard. A couple of boys stumbled upon our party, and were just like "uhhh. whoa" haha. Pretty fun. It's good to be back.

And every word is stale

Is that all you want from me?"
