i've been reading:

life after God- douglas coupland
plain and simple (a woman's journey to the amish)- sue bender
reflections in a golden eye- carson mccullers

suggest for me what to read next. I want to read a book called 'nickled and dimed' about the working class of america.

here is a look at the week that was (this is all night activities, not counting classes and homework):

monday:babysat for 6.5 hours
tuesday:had girls from last year's hall over, went to intramurals
wednesday:blinside/mewithoutYou show. wonderful.
thursday:drove to seattle to see brandtson play. gave them cookies.
friday:friday outreach at retirement center/had jon and des over for dinner, movie, dance party.

woke up early today to got to an estate sale and breakfast with mom and dad. i work from 8pm to 2am tonight.

i've been busy all week, it takes my mind off of things. now i have until 7pm to do nothing. hm.

Monday night i nannied for a family i hadn't met yet.

I read their new york times magazine.

on pages 29-30 there was an a short page article on sufjan stevens (blah blah blah all the same stuff we know) and a full-on page picture of sufjan.

I hope they don't notice that pages 29-30 are missing from their ny times magazine.

i can do this. i can do this. i can do this.

and at the same time I would much rather be 2000 miles away right now. 2000 miles away and the only thing i'd have to think about would be loving some children unconditionally.

i would much rather be doing that than dealing with any of this. any of it.

"and maybe one day i won't need to have a star at all"

I still know how to dress.

I hardly ever show it. t-shirts and jeans are way too easy and I like them. However, I do know a recipe for success.

Throw on some teacher-esque essentials:
light blue chinos
white tank top
black 3/4 sleeve cardigan

Add some funk:
black converse
black belt with large antiquey silver belt buckle
the usual silver jewelry

and it's looking pretty good.

I realized that when I went to visit my mom at the mall yesterday more than a hug, more than someone to talk to, what i really wanted, deep down, was for her to give me money so i could buy a new pair of pants.

Like new pants would solve any of this. how disgusting.
