Cement Girl

I have a new baby.

My brother and I went searching for it today. We went to a big shop downtown but we really couldn't find anything in my price range- which was about 200 dollars. He showed us a new Cort, but I had never heard of that brand and it just sound alright.

We then headed over to an independent store close to my school and took a look around. In all honesty i just wanted to buy a guitar this afternoon and get the shopping around over with. After I told the guy my price range (200) he pointed me to some ibanezes, first to a smaller bodied one. Now, I just don't want an Ibanez so I let him talk to me about it, but it sounded tinny and not so nice. He got an Ibanez one with a regular body and it was a little better, bassier sound to it.

Meanwhile my brother was checking some out and the guy left me to just look around. My brother had picked up this Olympia (by Tacoma) guitar that had a really big body, but nice cut aways on the sides (so it fits nicely on the lap). The sound was wonderful. I asked how much it was because i was expecting 500 or something from the sound of it, but my brother said it was also just 200 dollars. I sat and fooled around with it and we checked the body over it. It was used and had quite a few scratches and a good sized ding in the bottom of the body, but the sound was so nice I couldn't get over it.

The only issue is that i NEED a hard case to take it to Mexico in, and since this guitar has a "jumbo-size" body it would need a special case. One guy said they would probably cost about 100 bucks. So the other clerk looked and looked for one, finally deciding he didnt' have one... then magically finding out and it fit perfectly. It was a new case, and so i asked how much it was. "I'd give it to you for 50 bucks".. . whaaaa. yes. deal.

So now I am the proud of owner of my Olympia guitar (with some sunburst or something front) and a nice new case. and picks. and a tuner. I am a very happy girl today. Plus now i just love that store and will be back for future music needs.
